Report: Chief prosecutor wants crypto platforms share info
MOSCOW, Apr 5 (PRIME) -- Russia should force cryptocurrency platforms to get registered and share data with the law enforcement entities, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said on Wednesday in an article he contributed to the Federal Financial Monitoring Service’s in-house magazine Financial Security.
“The complicated geopolitical situation means risks of terrorism financing with the use of information and communications technologies at a high level, including vulnerabilities related to the use of messengers and digital assets,” Krasnov said.
“The flow of digital currency should be regulated, providers of services of virtual assets should be localized, and they should be forced to get registered and share data with Russian law enforcers.”
The prosecutor general also said that his authority together with the central bank and the communications service muted more than 10,500 Internet resources with information and offers of illegal financial services in 2022.
